Lutomysl - De Profundis

Latest album by one of noblest Eastern-European black metal acts. In fact, only Drudkh is better than Lutomysl from this region. Moreover, Lutomysl presents more authentic and pure vision of black metal than those which can be found in dozens of currently esteemed Western bands. Melancholy, anger, individualism and nihilism. It even has some gnostic background (”Stronger and stronger awareness of myself, as a Bearer of a Gleam… His Gleam.”)

1. Thou Shalt Shine
2. The Blade of Reality
3. Peace is not Found(Ode to Lucifer)
4. The Nigth
5. Angel with the Sign of Damnation on His Brow
6. Autumn Etude in Crimson Tones
7. My Way
8. Proclamation
Total playing time 51:40

Trist - Pustota

2005 demo of Czech solo-project. Quite atypical material in Trist’s discography. Two tracks of genuine depressive black metal. ‘Pustota’ means ‘emptiness’ or ‘void’ in Czech and other Slavic languages.

“I recorded music when I was set free from mental asylum. It was recorded in few days, I had inspiration. I think I won’t make more music in the future. Now my life is alcohol and I think it will destroy me.” - hope it will (he deserves the beauty of death rather than the decay of the living).

Der Golem - Zmet

Debut album, cdr released in 1999 by Grief Records. Penetratingly cold and depressive post-punk / darkwave / ambient / industrial. Some tracks from this material were played live and can be seen on the video which is posted here somewhere below. I’m not sure if this album can be identified with the one entitled as “С Шумом Ленты”. If it is so, then the following tracklist should be correct:

Tracklist:
1. Нет (No)
2. Untitled (Track 2)
3. Древние Звезды
4. Ночной Полет (Night Flight)
5. Untitled (Track 5)
6. Пан
7. Птицы (Birds)
8. Schlaf
9. Солнце Мертвых (Sun of the Dead)

(added the translations of part of the songtitles in brackets)

Band was formed by three men from Moscow, whose names become widely-heard later becouse of their own musical projects.

Line up:
Eugene Voronovsky (”Cisfinitum”) - keyboards, effects.
Roman Sidorov (”Staruha Mha”, “Der Golem”, “Sedativ”) - vocals
Eugene “Ych” Soloviov (”Model”) - guitar, programming

The band left behind single record (made in autumn 1998), containing very few tracks. Fatal performed transparent, slow and tranquil music. But Sidorov’s unique gloomy detached voice adds a lot of gothic-suicidal-darkwave tendencies to trip-hop-like electronic backgrounds.

Dead Reptile Shrine - A Journey Through the Darkest of Forests

Obscure ritualistic occult black metal. One could describe this sounds as a weird mix of Circle of Ouroborus and Spear of Longinus with old Absurd / Graveland plus a touch of old Bathory, but of course it is purely original work, especially considering the non-metal tracks, vocals, lyrics and whole aura. Some DRS releases can be still obtained via http://www.neuroscan.org/mailorder/

“Werewolf Records, being in a longtime fan of Dead Reptile Shrine, released this 80-minute CD containing recordings from 2001-2005 a.y.p.s.. It was limited to 500 copies and was the first of the label’s releases to be sold out. Out of respect for the label, mostly black metal recordings were chosen for the CD, yet enough diverse experimental and ritual sounds were included to lay down the alchemical prospects inherent in our work. For parts of this album, Dead Reptile Shrine was a band containing three members but this formation was later abandoned. The themes range from magical journeys to philosophies of satanism and fascism. It contains our favorite Dead Reptile Shrine recordings but split the opinions of the black metal reviewers who were not expecting to stumble upon this kind of horror.
By the way, 300 tapes of this were produced by Antihumanism (http://www.antihumanism.cjb.net/) in the beginning of 2007. Get it while you can!” (http://www.geocities.com/verilyhty/drs2.htm)

Music by Dead Reptile Shrine. Lyrics by Dead Reptile Shrine & Sacateca, except
track 5 by Dead Reptile Shrine & Pazuzu and track 9 by Dead Reptile Shrine &
G.D. Overkill. Guest vocals on track 9 by G.D. Overkill.

Dedicated to Austrian Black Metal and the philosophy of Arthur Schopenhauer.
